SVP, Principal Trader - Req. 1900626
Description
Job Summary:
Under limited direction, with a high level of autonomy, uses extensive knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience for making market in assigned securities. Provides marketing and trading support to Financial Advisors and Sales Traders. Maintains trading inventories. Works independently on complex assignments that are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity with substantial latitude for unreviewed actions or decisions. Maintains trading inventories with a market position size of $5mm or less.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Executes orders, relates bids and offers within established limits for in-house inventories.
* Provides marketing and trading support to Financial Advisors and Sales Traders.
* Commits to underwriting and maintains trading inventories balanced and up-to-date within approved guidelines.
* Generates new sales ideas, new products and cost controls.
* Leads the work of others and provides ideas and help to enhance client relationships.
* Answer telephones for market data, quotes, orders and information.
* Troubleshoots operational and administrative issues.
* Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
*Advanced trading strategies and market characteristics within assigned securities type or sector.
*Advanced concepts, practices, and procedures of Principal Trading.
*Principles of banking and finance and securities industry operations.
*Financial markets and products.
*Company's working structure, policies, mission, and strategies.
Skill in:
*Advanced math and analytics sufficient for quantitative analysis.
*Advanced marketing skills and sales ability.
*Identifying relationships, draw logical conclusions, and interpret results.
*Using technical/professional knowledge, interpersonal and sales skills to obtain customers' commitment to ideas, services, or products.
*Operating standard office equipment and using required software application to produce correspondence, reports, electronic communication, and spreadsheets.
Ability to:
*Read, interpret, analyze and apply information from industry data
*Organize, manage, and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with critical deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
*Use appropriate interpersonal styles and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with all organizational levels.
*Attend to detail while maintaining a big picture orientation.
*Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
*Project a positive, professional image both internal and with external business contacts.
*Convey information clearly and effectively through both formal and informal documents.
Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:
*Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Finance, Accounting or Business and a minimum of (5) five to (7) seven years of experience in the Principal Trading area of the financial services industry.

*Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
Licenses/Certifications:
*SIE required provided that an exemption or grandfathering cannot be applied.
*FINRA Series 7, Series 55 and Series 63 License.
